There's a technique Nightsisters use to remove madness from the mind. My mother once used it on me. I think I can replicate something similar. [Think being the key word there. But it wasn't as if they had a lot of options here.] It would require actually getting him to be still long enough for me to work.
[He didn't think Anakin was just going to let Maul reach into his mind and pull anything out, even if it was for his own good.]
[ mother talzin. yes, obi-wan can believe she could work abilities like that. the jedi have no qualms against the nightsisters and have operated side by side quietly, even though they rarely interact. ]
That might be hard. Anakin is strong in the Force. I could incapacitate him, but you could be in danger.
[There's a smirk on Maul's face at Obi-Wan's warning.]
Fortunately, that's a situation I have been in many times before.
[Cocky? Yes. But Maul's surprisingly resilient for the most part. He usually comes out of things (at least these days) in one piece.
He could say he's doing this to prevent Anakin from going on a rampage through Trench but that wouldn't be the whole truth. Maul believes in the balance of the Force. He's taken a lot from Obi-Wan, sought to hurt him time and again. For once, he's seeking to give something back to him instead. He killed Anakin once to cause Obi-Wan pain in Deerington. Now he's trying to save the Jedi instead. What a curious turn his life has taken.]
[ obi-wan doesn't quite share that confidence. maul is strong, but there's a difference from a jedi wavering and struggling with inner conflict and one who is committed. ahsoka and obi-wan have illustrated that difference well in battle. ]
[Yep, there's a 'we' now. Maul's involved in this whether he likes it or not, so he's not backing down. In for a penny, in for a pound.]
And I know you'll do your best to keep me safe.
[Obi-Wan has complicated feelings towards Maul but the Sith knows his noble nature won't let him stand by and just let his fallen apprentice kill Maul no matter how tempting the idea might be.]
[He's putting a lot of trust into Obi-Wan for this to work. But they've never worked together on the same side before. This might turn out alright with a little luck.]
Ariadne told me she was afraid some of his first targets if he fell would be two brothers by the name of Winchester. They've told me they will contact me should he try to kill them.
[He pauses.]
He may still come back to the Light. He's got more reasons to than I ever have. I offered Ahsoka a chance to join me and stop my master before his plan could be completed. She would have been willing until I told her I saw Anakin falling and joining him. She believed in him, in his goodness so much she refused and chose to fight me instead. Perhaps there was something to her blind faith after all.
Enough people see something good in him to make me think it’s still buried underneath all the turmoil and temptation he feels towards the Dark. It’s just a matter of helping him find it again.
[Of course, Anakin has to want to find it and Maul knows from firsthand experience that’s not the easiest thing in the world for someone to do. Change is hard.]
Keep me informed. You don't have to do this alone.
[A strange thing to be telling a man he's tried for so long to make as miserable as possible but Maul means it wholeheartedly. Obi-Wan's shoulders are broad enough to bear a lot of burdens but at least on this Maul can provide some support.]

How would that work?

It will not be the same as the last times.

Do you have a plan for seeking him out?

I can come up with one.
