Danger I'm used to. I'm not... good at calming people down. If anything, I tend to rile them up. [Partly because he was blunt, partly because he thought half the things they spouted were moronic, mostly because he just didn't like most people.] I'm... not good at making people feel calmer. Animals sure, but people? I'm bad at people.
I'm not sure, to be honest. [He's trying to be better at the whole "nothing matters not you or me so why bother bonding" nihilism thing. He's got friends both here and back home.
He just... tends to have a hard time of things.] I don't know that I can bring myself to be anywhere near as empathetic as you. [Because that KINDA involves letting people in, which is one of the LAST things he EVER wants to do.]
[He snickers. It's interesting to hear that come out of Obi-Wan's mouth.]
I can 100% AGREE to that. I mostly prefer animals and books for company to be honest. I get along with them. [Mostly because Ritsuka is quiet and gentle and amazingly good at just being in one spot for hours.]
Animals are... well not simple, but not as complicated as people. If an animal hurts me, I know it's because it's scared, I'm in its territory, or some other factor. I've never met an animal that attacked just because it thought it'd be FUN to do it.
Did you ever get a chance to meet Yuiko? [Ritsuka is proud of very few things, one of them is his pokemon and how well they work together. His tail is wagging furiously because he's still 12 and he likes Obi-Wan and he wants to tell the really cool monk about is equally cool pokemon, don't judge.] She's my Mismagius.
Well, it's not all that different from general differences in species and animals. You have animals that can fly, swim, walk on land, and pokemon aren't really that different and are just sorted into "types." Yuiko here is a pure ghost type, but there's grass, fire, water, rock, ground, flying, electric, dragon, normal, and way more.
So I don't know if you've ever seen a turtle, but Squirtle is a water pokemon and basically is just a turtle able to walk on two legs instead of four.
Or if you've seen a caterpillar, there's a pokemon called caterpie which is literally a giant green caterpillar and goes through the metamorphosis to become Butterfree instead of a butterfly. The difference is, instead of only being a few inches big, Butterfree is at least three feet tall with a wing-span to match.
I'm afraid there are some animal species on Earth that still baffle me. Though that's never been a real problem since I can communicate with them just fine.
That is super cool. [And easily more impressive than just CHOKING PEOPLE FROM A DISTANCE MAUL, SAVAGE AND ANAKIN!]
I can communicate with Yuiko and I tend to get along with most animals. [Because he is quiet and still. He would make an excellent nature photographer, honestly, alone in the wilderness for days and weeks with only animals as company.]
Er... [Well... no. He was proud of nothing he could or couldn't do, honestly. It was just... something he did.] Not... really. I never thought to think of it as something other than just what I'm able to do. [What is self-esteem?]

Thank you. I uh- hope everything is going better for you as well? Maul seems... less crazy now.

Things are still hectic, but I will handle it.

I wish you could, truly. But I'm sure it'll pass. I just have to keep working at it.
But when I need help, I'll ask for you. All right?

And I'll be happy to help.

You should be whatever is most comfortable for you. I'm not sure I want more people like me. I imagine that would annoy me for days on end.

I avoid killing any animal unless there is no other option. And there usually is.

Yuiko-chan! [Ritsuka calls offscreen and then suddenly he appears to have a hat before a face peeks out and the Mismagius blinks big eyes at Obi-Wan.]
She's a ghost-type pokemon. She's... well, technically she's a spirit. She's technically... dead?
But a pokemon are animals from another world? There all different sort.

[ it floats too. how odd. ]
What do you mean by "different sort"?
