[Nope, Padmé is a distraction from the fact that Obi-Wan has been keeping secrets from him. Never mind that all of this is a product of him keeping secrets for years.]

Why didn't you tell me?!

[jedies]

[ patiently. ]

Tell you what, Anakin? You knew you broke your oath. You were the one hiding Padme's secret.

Did you really want me to confront you with your own lies?

[facultative]

What was the point of all of this then! If you wanted me to leave then tell me.

I knew you never trusted me. I always knew they never wanted me around. They would have been happy to get rid of me the first chance they got.

[jedies]

Anakin, you know that's not true. I simply didn't want to pressurize you into a decision.

[ the idea that obi-wan never trusted anakin is absurd. and anakin should know that. they've talked about this not long ago. what changed so suddenly? surely not just luke. ]

[Anakin knows, he's just not thinking right now. The deeper he goes, the more reluctant he is to examine his own motivations and face what he's done.]

[ that is literally not what he said. even in a metaphorical sense. obi-wan is shocked to the core. ]

[facultative]

And what would that prove? Would killing people protect Padme?

[ obi-wan goes silent. cold. ]

[facultative]

[jedies]

[ it stings, but obi-wan holds his ground. ]

[It's disappointing to hear, but he's not surprised. He's never ranked as highly to his loved ones as he considers them.]
